Who is Johan Wissman of Sweden? Or how to run a 300 meters…
August 30, 2007 by Jimson Lee
At Speedendurance.com, we are following closely the results of the IAAF World Championships in Osaka, Japan.
Of course, we are rooting for fellow countryman Tyler Christopher, but we like to see the other dark horses as well. Jeremy Wariner will be beaten one day, just like Asafa Powell. That “day” may be in 2012…

Why Speededurance.com uses Blip.tv
August 29, 2007 by Jimson Lee
The current issue of PC World has an extensive comparison of most of the popular video sharing websites.
Blip.tv has emerged as a clear winner - again - in terms of video quality and video encoding speed. It also supports the wide screen Flash video player, a format that is soon becoming the de facto […]

August 28, 2007 by Jimson Lee
UPDATE: download Clyde Hart’s 60 page Training Manual from the 2007 USATF NPEP Conference.
In this recent article from the IAAF website, he quotes:

101 Common-Sense Rules for Leaders and Coaches
August 27, 2007 by Jimson Lee
I came across this great article called The Manager’s Cheat Sheet: 101 Common-Sense Rules for Leaders from InsideCRM.
The last part of it reminded me of my coaching duties:
Lead by example.
Get your hands dirty.
Make a difference to your athletes.
Gain your athletes’ trust and respect.
Be empathetic to personal problems.
Be unique as a manager.
Remember that ethics matter above […]

Videos of 1993 World Indoor Championships revisited
August 23, 2007 by Jimson Lee
It’s been over 14 years ago since my last race as a student athlete at McGill Univerisity.
The CIAUs (now called the CIS) were held at the Skydone on Toronto in conjunction with the 1993 World Indoor Championships.
Memories of that meet include our meeting with Dan O’brien.
Afterwards, we enjoyed watching the meet live including Bruny Surin […]
Vitamin C - A Great Effective Vitamin
August 22, 2007 by Jimson Lee
During my College years, I was a great fan of Dr. Linus Pauling.
Okay, maybe he went overboard on the mega high doses of Vitamin C. He took 10 grams of vitamin C per day, when 500 mg is pretty high in a standard anti-stress multivitamin.
Did you know is the only person to win 2 […]
The Speedendurance.com Olympics
August 21, 2007 by Jimson Lee
Since the Olympics are generally a good representation of countries (if you forget about the boycotts of 1976, 1980 & 1984) I thought I would give the readers an idea on who has visited Speedendurance.com during the last 3 months.
United States and Canada represent almost 80% of all visitors, which is no surprise as […]

August 17, 2007 by Jimson Lee
I want to post this before Asafa Powell or Tyson Gay breaks the World Record!
Click on this image to zoom in on Asafa Powell’s 9.77 100 Meter World Record photo finish.
This image is Justin Gatlin’s 9.77 100 Meter World Record photo finish in Doha, Qatar.
Both were amazing runs, despite the questionable wind readings in Doha […]
Diet Without Exercise Only Gets You So Far In The Weight Loss Game
August 16, 2007 by Jimson Lee
If you remember Covert Bailey from PBS decades ago, he emphasized exercise over diet by means of fat metabolism, and how it was impossible to lose weight by diet alone.
His best selling book The New Fit or Fat revolutionized America’s thinking about diet, exercise, and weight loss.
This article emphasizes the same points.
Losing weight, and […]
Tape Secrets: Change your Thoughts and Change Your Life By Listening to a Subliminal Tape
August 15, 2007 by Jimson Lee
Daniel St-Hilaire first introduced me to subliminal tapes back in 1985. His list of successful athletes include sprinters Bruny Surin and Nicolas Macrozonaris, as well as High Jumper Alain Metellus (2.28m).
Currently, he is the Center Coach for Athletics Canada at the National Training Centre in Montreal and can be reached at here.
At the time, […]

The Importance Of The Hydration Of The Body
August 9, 2007 by Jimson Lee
I feel bad about being in the middle of August and I haven’t posted an article on electrolyte drinks or simply hydration in general.
I prefer to mix my Gatorade at half-strength, as the suggested dilution is too concentrated, and it cuts the costs in half. You can read the full article here.

Photo Finish: Leaning at the Tape
August 8, 2007 by Jimson Lee
With the upcoming World Championships in Osaka less than a month away, I couldn’t help but reflect on the 2001 World Championships which were held in our “backyard” in Edmonton, AB.
How many races are won and lost at the finish line? And I’m not referring only to the 100 meters. Long sprinters, 200m […]

Guest Blogger Kevin Sinclair has this article on The Key to Successful Leadership.
Are leaders born or made? The old adage states that leaders are in fact born. I disagree with […]
CBC Journalists Asked to Avoid Adding Contacts in Facebook
August 6, 2007 by Jimson Lee
Here at Speedendurance.com, we like CBC, as it is our main source for most of the IAAF Golden League meets and the upcoming IAAF World Championship meet in Osaka.
Plus, we don’t have to hear Carol Lewis.
I would love to watch it live on WCSN, but their blackout policy prohibits me from viewing […]
