9.77 seconds - 100 Meter World Record revisited
August 17, 2007 by Jimson Lee
Click on this image to zoom in on Asafa Powell’s 9.77 100 Meter World Record photo finish.
This image is Justin Gatlin’s 9.77 100 Meter World Record photo finish in Doha, Qatar.
Both were amazing runs, despite the questionable wind readings in Doha that night (the video shows the flags in the stadium blowing pretty hard!)
If you are curious, you can extrapolate to the nearest thousandths of a second to see who really ran faster. But it wouldn’t matter as times are rounded UP to the nearest hundredths.

Got something to say?

Do you have the photo finishes of the other two times Powell ran 9.77 as well?
What’s interesting about the two photos you posted is the margin of victory for the two runners. Powell clearly had an easier time of it in his race.
@Albert - Sorry, I don’t have the other photo finishes.
What is impressive in Gatlin’s race is Nigeria’s Olusoji Fasuba in 9.85 sec!
