Unfortunately, Michael Johnson contracted food poisoning and did not advance to the Finals in Barcelona, despite being the heavy favorite to win the gold.
Michael Marsh, who finished 2nd at these trials, eventually won the Olympic gold
Next time you get Lane 8 for the 200 meters, don’t complain!
Note Carl Lewis’ 7th place finish.
