Reggie's speed was probably in top 10 % of pro's. Darrell Green, the CB for washington redskins was purportedly the fastest at 40 yds with a 4.12.. However, I still think Bullet Bob Hayes from the Cowboys and world record holder was the fastest player ever... He ran a 9 flat 100 yd. dash and about a 10 flat hundred meters.. R. Bush ran a 10.4 in high school .. Hayes was so fast that football developed the zone coverage for him... Willie Gault from the Bears and Univ. of Tennesse was also a 10.15-10.2 100 meter runner.. But Bush probably had better elusiveness, though his durability is questionable now...

I really like Reggie Bush he has had some exciting runs unfortunately he has been hit by the injury bug again. Did you see the butt kicking last night against Green Bay? Wow, that was incredible. Just wish Reggie was running the ball

Track spikes don't really help the first 40 yd (36m) of a race. That part is known as the drive. The spikes are typically entering and leaving the track surface in the same up-down motion. The pulling part of a race when hamstrings and glutes become more useful and your body should be in a straight-up position (the last 50 m) is when the spikes are helping you by keeping your feet from slipping.
