How to Start a Blog - Part 2

January 25, 2008 by Jimson Lee

In my article on How to Start a Blog for under 7 dollars, one thing I forgot to mention was disk storage. The old quota has just increased from 50 MB to 3 GB.

This means you can now upload high-resolution photos, Word and Acrobat PDF documents, music and videos to your WordPress blog without having to worry about the storage limit.

If you want to serve your own videos without YouTube or Blip.tv, you can even upload WMV files on your Wordpress.com server and use this Wordpress video plug in to display the videos.

As well, there’s no bandwidth limitations so the files are always available for download irrespective of the traffic.

Free is good.

And if you ever go over the 3 GB limit, you can purchase additions space via PayPal.
