Tyler Christopher wins 400m IAAF Indoor Championships

March 9, 2008 by Jimson Lee

UPDATE: Here is the video from YouTube.

Canada’s Tyler Christopher won the 400 meters in a world leading time of 45.67 at the IAAF Indoor Championships in Valencia. This lowers his PB and National Record of 45.80 set earlier this year in Birmingham, UK.

Johan Wissman of Sweden finished second in a Personal Best of 46.04

Chris Brown of Bahamas came third in 46.26.

Wissman, who drew Lane 4, had a perfect view of Christopher in Lane 5 and Brown in Lane 6. But it was Wissman and Brown battling it for the lead at the 150 meter break. I predicted Wissman, a 200 meter sprinter moving up to the 400 meters, would go out hard for the lead at the break, and simply “hang on”.

But Christopher had another gear in reserve for his come from behind victory.

Congratulations Tyler!
