Remember when France had the 4×100m WR?
June 10, 2008 by Jimson Lee
In response to Usain Bolt 9.72 and Asafa Powell 9.74 in the same fantasy 4×100m relay, here is proof you don’t need 4 superstars to break the World Record (but it certainly helps) - just 3 perfect baton exchanges!
The old record was 37.83 set by the United States at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics with Sam Graddy, Ron Brown, Calvin Smith, Carl Lewis).
On Oct 1, 1990, France broke the WR with a 37.79 performance with:
Max Moriniére (10.58)
Daniel Sangouma (8.90)
Jean-Charles Trouabal (9.21)
Bruno Marie-Rose (9.10)
The split times are above are questionable and not official.
The YouTube video is here. Let’s hear it for liberté, égalité, fraternité! (Liberty, equality, and brotherhood)
