Why warm up? That is what has been lost is why you need to warm up.
The cat does warm up, as it goes from a state of rest  to a slow walk as it stalks its prey.
The prey is warmed up as it has been doing a slow walk and even playing before being chased.

The police officer may not stretch but performance is not his issue and he gets a fresh shot of adrenaline which is everyones best friend. 

No doubt the warm up can be anything, jump rope, walking.</description>
