Your formula's are great. But just keep in mind that when bolt ran that 200m he had gone through 3-4 rounds of the 100m and the same before the 200m. Also having a look at bolts 100m PB and 400m PB compared to Blake, Bolt having a greater speed reserve & great Speed endurance. I wouldnt jumped to the conclusion that blake is going to beat bolt

Whoa! Some of us Masters athletes lose weight, get a trainer, and/or get a coach, thus improving year over year. Not everyone improving can be looked at suspiciously, but I do understand your concerns. Maybe we should look for unbelievable improvements or other signs of doping instead? Or maybe lobby for increased testing at the Masters level?

The toe drag from Usain and Asafa sprint start is the results of a skip action out of the blocks. It is very easy to mimic. The end results is greater top end speed.
Nothing complicated at all.

To further clarify a year later: The maximum length of the photo finish is now 20 seconds. Which means that you can time middle distances as well.

"Can I use this app to time myself doing sprints, say 150, 200?s ?"
Sure. You can set it up to play "Ready", "Set" and then a shot. It will start the timer at the shot and start the photo finish when you approach the goal.

The only problem is how to hear the shot. Either you have a long cable to get a small speaker closer to you. Or you put a strong speaker at the finish. In the latter case you can set the distance in sprintTimer to compensate for traveling time of the sound.
