Over the years, I’ve come across many food tips that will help you eat healthier, save money, and lose weight. If you have a good tip, please feel free to post a comment, and when I expand this guide to part 2, I will give you full credit.

Flax seeds. You can buy cheap flax seeds and crush them in your coffee grinder… just make sure you refrigerate it after you crush it, and add it to your oatmeal, cereal, etc. Read about the benefits here.

Organic apples for dessert or snacks. If you want to satisfy your teeth, organic apples are a good choice as it also has water. Plus I guarantee you won’t eat 5 apples but you can easily eat 5 pieces of chocolate.

Rock Candy for dessert? Keep some rock candy (not chocolate) for dessert. Ever wonder why Chinese restaurants serve huge portions of entrees and a measly almond cookie or fortune cookie for dessert. Some small & satisfying sweet items, like sucking on rock candy, instead of a cheesecake, will suffice most of the time. I like Werthers Hard Candy.

Frozen Yogurt. Buy them in individual little mini cups, pop them in your freezer, and when you’re ready, microwave them for a few seconds. It gives the same consistency as ice cream. Oh yeah, don’t forget to peel off the foil lid wrapper or else it will catch on fire and explode.

Cottage Cheese. If you want to increase your protein intake, and help you sleep, try cottage cheese with a small amount of sugar free jam before bedtime.

Cut your coffee. When making drip coffee, replace 1 spoon of regular caffeinated coffee with 1 spoon of Swiss water process decaffeinated coffee or Teeccino. Then try substituting 2 spoons. Eventually you may kick the caffeine habit.

Avoid White Flour. Try replacing it with Kamut or Buckwheat flour in your next pancake batter.

Make a Double Burger. If you want to cut the fat, order 2 hamburgers and use one of the buns to soak up the juice (i.e. fat) of the meat patties, and voila, you now have a single double burger. You might get a few strange looks. If you are the Atkins diet, ask for some fresh lettuce leaves and replace your buns for a lettuce burger sandwich.

Are you really hungry? Are you confusing your stomach emptying with stomach hunger growls? How can you be hungery a few hours after a big meal?
