I was recently on a business trip where my only connection to the Internet was a dial up connection!
I had a file on YouTube that I needed to post on Blip.tv, but I didn’t want to download it, and re-upload it.
I already wrote on How to Save YouTube and Blip.tv files for your iPod or computer.
Luckily, there is Hey! Spread. With the buzz on social and viral bookmarking, such as Digg and StumbleUpon, the purpose of this site is to cross-post videos to multiple sites in one shot.
They support (at the time of this writing)
- YouTube
- Google Video
- Dailymotion
- Blip.tv
- Metacafe
- Photobucket
- Yahoo Video (alpha)
- Myspace (alpha)
- Putfile
I simply entered the URL to the YouTube video, usually in the form of www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-jEkk_rCxU. This example is Alan Webb’s American Record in mile, where he ran 3:46.91 to break Steve Scott’s record.
You also have to enter 2 tags, then you enter your credentials to the target video site. You will be emailed when the conversion is done. The normal recommended size is between 10 minutes or 100Mb.
This sure saved me from having to download 50Mb on a dial up connection!
This is also handy when your corporate firewall blocks YouTube (due to your lack of productivity!) and not the other video service providers!
Happy viewing, and spread those videos!
UPDATE 12/22/2007:
You need to add credits to your account to use Hey!Spread. 1 credit only costs USD $0.05 or 0.03€.
1 credit allows you to upload one video to one site. For instance: you want to upload one video to YouTube, Dailymotion and Google at the same time, it will cost you 3 credits (USD $0.15)
Minimum purchase is 20 credits for USD $1.
I found this http://www.youtubevideosdownload.com is also a good tool to download.
