Why is Attitude the most important factor for success?

You know that numerology numbers game where:

A = 1
B = 2
C = 3
.
.
Z = 26

Try adding up all the letters for some of these famous “rah-rah” words:

SKILLS
19 + 11 + …. = 82

KNOWLEDGE
11 + 14 + … = 96

HARD WORK
8 + 1 + … = 98

Now try ATTITUDE!

1 + 20 + 20 + 9 + 20 + 21 + 4 + 5 = 100

So there you have it.

Attitude is Everything. It’s 100%

attitude equals 100 percent

    Hello Jimson,

    Agreed and couldn’t be stated enough. I think it’s especially important when the going gets tough. It’s easy to maintain a healthy attitude when the sun is shining and the pockets are full. A number of us have been blessed by having good parents, teachers, coaches and positive adult role models. They are worth their weight in gold. Many people are not so lucky and we are able to readily see the results of those conditions. As a man wearing many hats as a coach, how do you instill, nurture and maintain positive attitudes in your athletes?

    p.s. I have to laugh at myself sometimes because occasionally the mind is willing but the body is weak. (Beat up and tired bones and ligaments, usually) That’s when I think of the cartoon superhero of the ’60’s, Underdog and the “Super Vitamin Pill” he kept in the compartment of his ring that gave him super powers. lol. Who would have thought that cartoon show was ahead of its time and he would now not be considered an ideal role model?

    @Fred – I find the returning athletes easier to motivate as I simply have to remind them of the Championship meet from the prior year.

    One year, we lost by a single point!

    Training is like “money in the bank” and “Compound Interest”… you have to do a bit every day, and the reward will pay off in the long run.
