Usain Bolt Berlin World Championships Video
How fast will Usain Bolt run?
That seems to be the question these days, barring unfortunate weather conditions.
His 10.03 jogging the last 60 meters in the Quarter-Finals made me believe he is ready for another world record.
He appeared to relax (while the rest of the field were straining) after 60 meters in his 9.89 (+0.2) in the Semi-Final.
And of course, that means another post victory dance, just like Ovamar’s “Nuh Linga” dance and Ice’s “Gully Creepa” and Shelly Belly’s “Nineties Rock” in his Beijing 100m and 200m repectively.
UPDATE: Sorry, the video is no longer on YouTube.
Splits for this race are available on the IAAF website as part of their biomechanics project. Bolt’s splits from 30 – 100m are awesome!
Hello Jimson,
Yesterday, Ol’ Bolt said, “I train all year round to run the 100m, so I know what I’ve got to do so when I go in the blocks,” he explained. “I know what is necessary. I can have all the fun I want before the race but when the starter says ‘on your marks’ I just refocus and then it is time to go.”
How many periods of rest does his year round training include?
He also stated, “I got a good start. That was my main aim and then my drive phase overall was good. I got out of my drive phase and I saw I was leading and, when I got to 50, I knew it was going to be hard to get past me because that’s the strongest part of my race.”
What section of the race is the actual drive phase? i.e. 10m – 40m or does it vary from person to person?
Do you have any thoughts on the upcoming 200m event?
