Usain Bolt 19.19 200m World Record Video

How fast will Usain Bolt run?

Will he go for the World Record, like he did in Beijing 2008?

Or, will he just go for the win, and the World Record will be bonus?

The only sprinters who will push him (at least while on the curve) are Americans Shawn Crawford and Wallace Spearmon.

Here are 2 things to consider:

(1) He ran 19.59 in Lausanne in rain and wind. In Bolt’s post-race comments, he was very excited about the performance as it showed him where he was at with his training.

(2) To calculate a 200m potential, take your best 100m time doubled, then add/subtract 0.2 seconds.

In this case, his 9.58 WR from last Sunday:

9.58 x 2 = 19.16
19.16 +/- 0.2 = 18.96 to 19.36 range.

Even the high end of the scale gets awfully close to his 19.30 WR.

With that raw speed, and “limited training”, Bolt’s greatest asset is his speed reserve. I wrote an in depth article on Usain Bolt’s speed reserve vs. Michael Johnson’s speed endurance where he split the 200m in 9.98.

That an amazing performance , but i think he can run faster , did you see the wind ?
it registered [ -0.3 ] and in good conditions say like 1.5-1.9+ wind , i think he can run close to 19.00.. he is a monster , we haven’t seen such a performance that the winner is away 1 full second from the best sprinters in the world!!!!

Jameson did you record the first 100m ?? , I’ve watched it and expect that he enter 9.80 @ the first 100m!!! ( with curve)…hahaha

I think there’s no solution for beating him..
