The past articles on my visit to Rieti and David Rudisha’s 400/800 performance brought on a few emails asking the obvious question:

Where Are The Videos?

Okay, here they are.

I decided to use some high tech server technology and use the JWPlayer to display MP4 files instead of the usual FLV (my apologies if I am speaking tech).  I love this player with the dropdown playlist and I’ll use 4 videos to demonstrate this.

In this example I have the 100 meters men’s and women’s, the 400 meters (of course!), and finally the 800 meters where David Rudisha wins in an astonishing 1:42.01.

(If you are reading this from an RSS reader, you will have to go to the website to view the videos as they are not hosted on YouTube)

Check out the Men’s 100m straight final invite… ALL are sponsored by NIKE and they are ALL wearing the NIKE speed suits… right down to the same colour… orange top, grey bottoms.  Who’s who?  Oh yeah, that’s Asafa Powell and his traditional shut-it-down-at-the-90-meter-mark-when-I’m-winning finish in 9.99 seconds.

The 100m Women’s has Jamaica’s Shelly Ann Fraser winning in 11.18.

The 400 meters has GBR’s Robert Tobin winning in 45.30.

Also, check out the “music” coming from the PA speakers. Gotta love originality!

Enjoy!

He’s also 6’3″ tall… reminds me of the NBA. Overnight the players went from 6’4″ to 6’10”. His father Daniel was on the silver medal 4x400m team in Mexico 1968. So 400m speed is in the genes.
