Usain Bolt had something to prove.
With Asafa Powell’s 9.78 World Lead at Lausanne, and Yohan Blake’s recent back-to-back 9.82 100 meters, he wanted to finish the season on top.
And with Nesta Carter in the race, it wouldn’t be easy.
Little did he know that Yohan would run 19.26 six minutes later (with a legal tail wind)!
It’s really a shame we couldn’t see a Bolt-Blake match up in either 100 or 200 meters. It’s amazing how fast we forgot about Tyson and Asafa! Let’s see ALL EIGHT sprinters go sub-10 in the Olympic final!
This really puts the 2012 Olympics as big as the Ben Johnson/Carl Lewis showdown in 1988. Granted, they are both from Jamaica, but nobody wants to see Bolt derailed from his throne. Well, maybe his fellow competitors do!
All I can say is Jamaica will have one hell of a team for the sprints, and the Jamaican Olympic Trials will be an entertaining one.
It may be as exciting as the actual Olympics itself.
Good luck in choosing 4 guys for the 4x100m relay!
Here is the video on YouTube.
UPDATE: Sorry, the video is no longer on YouTube.
The times for this race can be seen here.

If he wouldn’t have a painbacks it could be achieved a sub 9,7 surely. Perhaps these year Bolt will race another 100 in Bruxells.
