Background Info on REgel
(written by the creator of REgel)
After the 2011 Masters World Track & Field Championships, I realized that Track & Field had given me so many great memories and opportunities. I had endured numerous injuries throughout my running career. By creating a recovery gel and using a balanced pre-hab/re-hab exercise routine, I avoided injuries during my masters competition season. I knew the gel was too good to keep a secret and wanted to give back to my sport, help athletes avoid injury and prolong their athletic career.
I immediately immersed myself in worldwide “herbology” and used my science background to further improve the gel. Herbalism has dated back centuries with Chinese herbalism starting in 3400 BC with Emperor Chi-en Nung. Some of his discoveries were used by Shaolin Monks and Kung Fu masters to create various liniments and soaks to aid fighters in recovery. These fighters would soak their fists, forearms and legs before and after sparring. These secret formulas were used to stop swelling, reduce inflammation and help move stagnant blood which aided recovery. One of the first European herbalists was the famous Greek Physician Hippocrates in 400 BC. He extracted a powder from willow bark (aspirin) and discovered that it could reduce fevers and ease aches & pains. Native Americans, such as the Cherokee tribe in North America used goldenseal root as a clothing dye, war paint & for stomach ailments. Sometimes they would pound the root with buffalo fat and smear it on their bodies as an insect repellent. It was amazing to see how natural plants from all the different regions have helped people.
Using more information, I adjusted the formula. I wanted the product to incorporate all the best from different plants found around the world. I wanted it to be free of Performance Enhancement Drugs and ingredients that masked pain. I tested the product with over 300 athletes. These athletes included a multitude of sports including Track and Field, Mixed Martial Arts, Basketball, Football, Triathlons, Dance, Cross-fit, Ultra-Marathons, Baseball, Soccer and Wrestling. These same athletes would share their new weapon with their coaches, physical therapist, and orthopedic surgeons. I got great feedback and continued to fine tune the final version.
With glowing reviews I proceeded to name the product and come up with a logo. I received many ideas from family, friends and athletes. After listing the attributes: Relieve, Repair, Recover. I notice the commonality of “RE”. The gel was helping people return to their state of well-being and I soon came up with the name REgel.
Within a few months I pulled into my small circle a few investors and advisors to bring my idea into a reality. We worked with a manufacturer in the Bay Area and oversaw its production to make sure that we brought a high quality product to the public. REgel will give people a powerful tool to keep striving for their goals and to continue doing what they love.
FAQ on REgel
Q) Does REgel contain any P.E.D. (Performance Enhancing Drugs)?
REgel does not contain any P.E.D. REgel contains only legal substance allowed in all WADA, Olympic, NCAA, and professional sports.
Q) Can REgel be used with ice, heat packs, tape & bandages?
Yes. REgel does not contain Camphor or Menthol which have caused blistering when used with heat and bandages. Both Menthol and Camphor are active ingredients that cause a heat/cooling sensation. A lot of “muscle rubs” use these two ingredients. I wanted to create a product that did not contain them because it gives a false security and just mask the pain. There have been cases where people apply use too much of these “muscle rubs” while using bandages and heat packs that they cause burns. You do not have to worry about it with REgel.
You can use REgel with ice however I stopped using ice for my sore shins because icing takes too long.
Q) How long will REgel last?
It varies with individual. Each application will last between 45 minutes to 3 hours. You can Reapply several times a day to help with pain and speed up your recovery. Each 2.0 Fluid Ounce jar will last approximately 3-4 weeks. I train quite a bit so I go through a jar in about once every two weeks.
Q) Anything special you use REgel for?
Mosquitoes love me. I get severe swelling and itching over the areas of the mosquito bite. Within less than a minute of applying REgel, I stop scratching. Within an hour the swelling over the bite will disappear.
Also a few weeks ago I had a pretty bad fever. I rubbed it over my aching back so I could rest longer without pain.
Q) Why does REgel work?
REgel has some key ingredients such as Arnica, Chamomile, and Turmeric that are widely known to help reduce inflammation and increase blood flow. As we age our bodies are replicating a lot of damaged DNA. Repair mechanisms are either slow or ineffective from the repeated replication of corrupt DNA. These ingredients help bring your body to a natural state to effectively recover.
