And now for something completely different. Something a bit bizarre in a the world of Track and Field. (Since today is my birthday, it’s time to “lighten up” and have a festa).

I wrote about the reverse 400 meters (clockwise, not counter-clockwise) as well as a backwards 100m, 200, 400m, and 4x100m relay!

How about a 400 meters sprint while juggling 3 balls?

Franz Roos completed a 400-meter run in 56.06 seconds while juggling three balls on September 11, 2000.  How many Masters men can run 56 seconds for 400 meters? Can *I* break 56 seconds at age 50?

The rules:

  • must run on a standard 400-meter track
  • must juggle three (3) balls while running
  • must provide video evidence

Here is the video on YouTube. I don’t make this stuff up!

That is very impressive. I’m not sure I can run that period!

@Zack, thanks. I still remember my 33rd birthday, and that was watching Michael Johonson winning the 400m Gold in Atlanta ’96 in 43.49. The record at the time was 43.29. He did run 43.44 to win the Trials a few weeks earlier.
