It’s that time of year where we have all the usual annual awards and “year in review” articles.
With that in mind, I want to review a few highlights from 3 meets: The IAAF World Juniors in Barcelona, The Rome Golden Gala Diamond League meet, and The Rieti Meeting.
Simone Proietti (whose photograph appears as the book cover to the 2012 edition of Relax and Win) compiled a nice slideshow on YouTube.
It’s almost 6 minutes long and played to the tune of Sweet Child o’ Mine by Guns and Roses.
When I was competing in open track meets, GnR was one of my favorite bands, despite the band kicking out their drummer for not kicking the drug habit (Narcotics, not Anabolics), and recording a Charles Manson song! Yes, that Charles Manson. But at least the song royalties goes to one of the victim’s relatives (none of it going to Manson in prison) and Guns and Roses gave their portion to Save the Dolphins. Truth is stranger than fiction.
Enjoy the video.
