Running counter clockwise started in the 6th century BC and has stayed that way ever since.
The University of Ghent to study why all athletic track events run anti-clockwise, the 2011 Brussels Diamond League hosted an unusual event… the Reverse 400 meters running clockwise!
Take a look at the YouTube video below and my body just hurts watching the race. It’s bad enough running the 400 meters, but to have the body move in a way your mind does not want to do?
How do you pace yourself?
That last 100m is on a curve (which is no big deal, as we used to do a lot of 3x300m workouts running curve-straight-curve)
The guy in Lane 8 has one long curve to finish the race!
I don’t know about you, but this is just way too weird for me.
I agree with E. Garry Hill of T&FN… bring back the Outdoor 500 meters!
