Have you ever done a 10x100m on a grass field that’s not a football pitch?
How about 8x150m tempo on grass, or even a 200m straightaway tempo strides?
Well, Google Maps is your freind
Using Google Maps
First, find your grass field on Google Maps, Zoom in, then change to Satellite Mode.
In my example below, the school have marked out what seems to be a 200m track and a 100m straightaway (seen by the START & FINISH markings, below)

Next, right click on the 1st starting point, and select “Measure distance”.

Finally, click on the 2nd location.

As you can see, a point-to-point straight line shows 100.00m from START to FINISH.
That’s it! You can choose tree to tree, edge of road to big bush, or whatever Google Maps has captured at the time of the satellite image.
I hope this helps you get an accurate idea for your next workout!
