By the time the Olympics rolled into my backyard in Montreal 1976, Harvey Glance was the man to beat.
After all, he set the WR twice for the 100 meters (a 9.9 hand time)
By then, Valeri Borzov was no longer a force to be reckon with, but I still didn’t count him out to repeat as a double gold medallist in the 100 meters.
Harvey Glance came fourth in the open 100m, but won a gold medal in the 4×100 meter team for USA as their lead-off leg. Borzov won the bronze.
Longevity in sprinters are rare, so his 12 plus years as a world class athlete is impressive.
Today, Harvey Glance is the head coach at the University of Alabama.
His new DVD Training for Track and Field: Sprints, Hurdles and Relays is available on Amazon.
