My favourite pictures of 2009 came from the IAAF Super Grand Prix Athletissima meeting on July 7, 2009 at the Olympic stadium in Lausanne.

No, it wasn’t the photo of Usain Bolt in the pouring rain.

In the picture below, Angela Morosanu, whose sponsor is Adidas, falls during the women’s hurdles 400 meters.  This photo was not altered by Photoshop.  (Photo courtesy of http://gettyimages.com/)

From the telephoto lens angle, it appears she was trounced by the (big, bad?) NIKE swoosh..  Sort of like the attack of the Killer Tomatoes.

The 400 meter hurdles can be such a cruel event.

This picture shows her stumbling after hitting the nth hurdle.

For a great collection of High Resolution Track photos, check out Boston.com Sports Blog July 2009 issue.  The “Usain in the Rain” is photo #18.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Bring on 2010.

Commonwealth Games anyone?  Or Diamond League?
