PODCAST – Dan O’Brien

October 27, 2010 by Jimson Lee Leave a Comment

When I hear and see the name “Dan O’Brien”, the one word that comes to mind is “attitude”.

“Character” is a close second.

There are several posts on “Attitude” on this Blog, including Attitude is Everything where attitude = 100% and Attitude: the Difference Maker from the 2007 USATF National Podium Education Project

In short, Life is not about your personal incidents and situations.  Life is about how you REACT to them.

And that includes “failures”.

I had posted the quote “Attitude” by Charles Swindoll in our meeting with American Decathlete Dan O’Brien back in 1993 World Indoor Championships in Toronto, Canada.  (Remember, he didn’t come top 3 in the 1992 USATF Decathlon trials, but went on to win in the Trials and the Gold medal in 1996.)  How do you stay focused for 4 years?  Let’s ask Lolo Jones that question in London 2012!

Speaking about the 1992 Trials and the whole Dan and Dave debacle, there was a good podcast on Living The Run.com that talked about the hype.

You can hear the podcast on here.
