Yesterday’s post on What is a Swedish Relay? deserves a few videos.

The USA team, comprising of Youth athletes (i.e. U18 or under 18), came very close in breaking the WR with their 1:49.47 performance.

The first exchange is critical as it is occurring at near top speed (100 to 200).  As expected, Japan, noted for their crisp baton exchanges with the push pass exchange, were able to tuck behind the Americans after the first 2 legs.

France used their traditional upsweep pass for the first exchange.  See 4×100 Relay Baton Passing – Upsweep, Downsweep or Push Pass?

In the video below, the 2nd exchange (200 to 300) uses a visual upsweep pass, which is safe and conservative when you consider the incoming runner is tiring.

The last exchange (300 to 400) is a high visual pass  (see Baton Exchanges: How to Run the 4×200m & 4×400m)
