Thanks to Mike Hurst who made this podcast available.
Peter Fortune became Cathy Freeman’s coach shortly after she was a member of the 1990 4x100m Relay team for Australia.
The rest is history for her 400m accomplishments … 2 World Championships Gold medals (97 Athens, 99 Seville), an Olympic silver (Athens 1996), and finally the moment we all remember, the 2000 Olympic Gold in Sydney.
If you do the math, you can clearly see the benefits of sticking to same coach throughout your career.
One can imagine the pressure she faced.
But in this podcast, we get a lot of insight leading up to that Sydney 400m victory, including some of her training secrets. (I gave an example of how she did her 6x200m workouts)
