Many thanks to Albert Caruana from CrossCountryExpress for this link.
These videos are the Sebastian Coe “Born to Run” series.
Next to the 400 meters, the 800 meters is probably the toughest event. I really can’t imagine running a 400 meters in sub 50, and hearing the bell lap to run another lap.
We all remember the Carl Lewis Ben Johnson rivalry from 1983-1988. Canada vs. USA. Brash vs Shy. Polished speaker vs. Stutterer. I can think of a few more analogies, but remember, this is a family friendly site!
Healthy competition is good for the body and soul, and it brings out the best in you, including a Personal Best.
But what happens when the top two 800m/1500m/Mile athletes are from the same country?
Enter Seb Coe and Steve Ovett (including a young emerging Steve Cram). From 1978-1984, these guys traded World records.
UPDATE: Sorry, the video is no longer on YouTube.
