Online Registrations are Open at European Masters Games 2008

December 3, 2007 by Jimson Lee 2 Comments

What are the European Masters Games (EMG)?

Like the World Masters Games (WMG) vs. the World Masters Athletics (WMA formerly WAVA), the WMG hosts other sports whereas the WMA strictly Athletics or Track and Field. Both are held on odd years which is really too bad. I wouldn’t mind alternating the two events every year.

The European Masters Games, where 28 Sports are represented, are held on even years just like the EVAA European Veterans (Masters) Championships.

From August 29 – September 7, 2008 the Swedish city of Malmö is hosting the 1st European Masters Games. This multi-sports masters event open for veteran athletes at all levels.

The EMG 2008 is also a week full of festivities and entertainment. For those who participate, or just come along for the fun of it, there will be plenty of time to explore the city of Malmö, which is situated in the center of the dynamic Oresund region. A short train-ride takes you to Denmark and the wonderful city of Copenhagen.

Unfortunately, the only prerequisite for entering the games is being an European citizen and (in most sports) being 35 years of age or more when entering the competitions.

Sounds like an awesome event…I haven’t really been involved with sports since college which reminds me I need to start exercising again ;)
