C.J. Spiller (RB) was selected 9th overall with Jahvid Best (RB) the 30th pick at the 2010 NFL Draft First Round selection.
For former Sprinters, the Top 5 favorites from the NFL Combine in my pool were Clemson’s Jacoby Ford (WR), LSU’s Trindon Holliday (WR), Clemson’s CJ Spiller (RB), Cal’s Jahvid Best (RB), USC’s Taylor Mays (FS).
Both Spiller and Best are Running Backs and with their sprinting background, they have a second gear once they can get through the tackles. The Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions have a great ground game, so it will be exciting to see these player mature through the years.
The only two Wide Receivers selected in the first round were Demaryius Thomas (22nd) of Georgia Tech and Dez Bryant (24th) of Oklahoma St.
For Safeties, Eric Berry of Tennessee (5th) and Earl Thomas (14th) of Texas were the other first round picks.
Congrats to all of these fine athletes as they will make a lot more money playing Pro Football than Track and Field. Especially with Usain Bolt dominating the 100 and 200 meters!
