This is Part 4 of a multi-part series. Part 1 was with Dennis Mitchell. Part 2 was with Brooks Johnson. Part 3 was Hurdle Touchdown Times
One of the highlights of my Orlando-Clermont trip was shadowing a session with Håkan Andersson of Sweden. Since I am Canadian, his wife is also from Canada, so we had a lot in common!
He was the coach of Peter Karlsson (100m PB and NR of 10.18 with a 9.98w to his credit) and is currently coaching Stefan Tärnhuvud among other athletes, including para-Olympians. Stefan’s Blog is here, but it’s in Swedish!

I don’t have any video or interviews with Håkan as any recording at ESPN Disney Wide World of Sports Complex is forbidden without written authorization. But I do have pages and pages of mental notes!
But all is not lost or hidden!
Enter Mladen Jovanovic.
He is currently the head physical preparation coach in Hammarby, a soccer club in Stockholm, Sweden, and it was only fate that these two experts had a chance meeting.
A lot of our discussions can be found in Mladen’s interview, and I highly recommend reading it. There are so many take home messages, which I will discuss and critique at a later date.
You can read it here:

good stuff jimson , interesting
intersting how some of his methods are similar to that of armin hary late 59 early 1960 ie short sprints at max 90% , and to that of the world indoor champ over 60 2008. ie developing speedendurance through shorter distance work. but very interesting !!!
