SpeedEndurance TV – On Teamwork, Leadership and Building a Winning Team

May 8, 2013 by Jimson Lee Leave a Comment

I was inspired to do this 7 minute video as a follow up to Derek Evely’s 10 Great Tips to Succeed as a Coach (and Change our Sport)

I think if a team, company or organization can follow my 7 tips, then you will succeed.

Athletics Canada is having a hard time rebuilding their organization after winning only 2 bronze medals in the past 2 Olympics. (READ Beyond the Olympic Medals: Where Do We Go Now? )  But are they building a team the right way?  Do they have the right leadership?

Certainly they have challenges such as the sheer size of the country, different languages, Hockey being the #1 sport, and brutal weather 6 months of the year.  I truly believe what separates us from any other country, big and small, is resources, and that is money & people.

I have used these 7 tips in many situations, from fielding a College 4x400m team right up to leading a group of 30 employees in a high tech startup.

Don’t worry, I’m not going to make you fall off a cliff and ask your teammates to catch you, or partake in any 4 hour rah-rah Anthony Robbins seminar.  Just 7 common sense tips that work.

Hopefully, these tips in Teamwork and Leadership will translate to more medals at the next Olympics.  Be sure to subscribe to SpeedEndurance TV for daily video tips or coaching interviews.
