Being an Athlete in 2015 (by Henk Kraaijenhof)
I never do or did take doping, I never even thought about it, but I have to prove it, so you take my urine, because you don’t trust me.
That’s fine.
Then you take my blood, and you still don’t trust me.
That’s still OK.
You made me fill out my whereabouts, because you don’t trust me.
I accepted it.
Now you knock on my door in the middle of the night, like one only does with dangerous criminals or terrorists, and still you don’t trust me.
Would you accept that?
You stole my medical data and published it in the newspapers, so you don’t trust me.
And now I published my all blood tests to show that I am transparent and have nothing to hide, but still you don’t trust me, you say: “yeah, just like Marion Jones or Lance Armstrong”.
And here is my question:
What do you want me to do more, apart from quitting sport?
Because if this is the meaning of the “spirit of sports”, if this is what sports has become, feed it to the pigs.
