NIKE, Inc. introduced the Nike LunarGlide+ Race Collection to celebrate the brave achievements of marathon runners worldwide. With a seamless blend of fashion and function, the Nike LunarGlide+ Race Collection features nine shoes that combine city-inspired design touches with premium performance benefits including Dynamic Support, LunarLite and Flywire technology.

Nothing fuels the heart and soul of a runner like the 26.2 miles of blood, sweat and tears. Although the race distance is universally accepted, there are many unique characteristics that differentiate marathons around the world. From the flat and fast terrain of Chicago to the cooling sea breezes of Rio De Janeiro, Nike is celebrating the unique individual flavour of the world’s top marathons with color and iconic imagery that represent each city.

NIKE_Marathon_Flower The collection includes shoes for Beijing, Boston, Chicago, Honolulu, London, New York City, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo along with a shoe for the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco.

The performance of the Nike LunarGlide+ is second to none, leading with an innovative mid-sole architecture called Dynamic Support, a patent-pending system with superior cushioning and as-needed stability. The Dynamic Support system in the Nike LunarGlide+ midsole is designed with the two-part LunarLite cushioning system which incorporates a lightweight foam core that sits within a firmer foam carrier and features an encapsulated rear-foot wedge to provide as-needed support.

In addition to Dynamic Support and LunarLite cushioning, the Nike LunarGlide+ Race Collection features Flywire technology that securely locks down the foot. The use of LunarLite in the midsole and Flywire in the upper allow for a dramatic reduction in weight compared to typical daily distance running shoes. The men’s Nike LunarGlide+ weighs just 10.6 oz. while the women’s weighs a mere 8.6 oz.

The shoe also has soft, yet strong microfiber synthetic overlays ultrasonically welded into place for seam-free comfort. A high-resilience men’s and women’s-specific foam sockliner also creates a foot-bed with exceptional step-in feel and added support while featuring colors and images representative of each marathon.

The Nike LunarGlide+ Race Collection is available globally. For more information, please go to www.nikerunning.com.
